Where Hungarian folk music meets wine culture on Somló Hill
About the Festival
A meeting of traditional folk music and Somló wine culture on Somló Hill, in the garden of the Csatári Winery overlooking the basalt organ pipes. Since 2020, the FolkFest Cultural Association has organized the Somló FolkFest folk music micro-festival every August, which is one of the cornerstones of its activities.
Year after year, the most talented musicians of the new generation and their legendary masters take the stage; visitors to this intimate, friendly event can almost always enjoy performances by Kossuth Prize-winning bands or artists.
Our goal is for visitors to also get to know the wines of the mountain: each time, we invite a renowned winemaker from Somló to present their best wines to the audience.
The program concludes each year with a dance party, where visitors can learn the basics of folk dancing with live musical accompaniment and the help of trained dance instructors.
Somló FolkFest is free every year; we warmly welcome all interested visitors.

The Location

Far more important than the winemaking activities at Csatári Pince is the community that has formed around it. A constantly growing circle of friends—who visit the winery throughout the year—creates an inspiring atmosphere at this exceptionally beautiful location. From the building’s terrace, you can see all the way to Lake Balaton, and the view from the garden is dominated by the sight of the basalt columns of Somló Hill, just a stone’s throw away.
The location is easily accessible via a paved road. It is located just 700 meters from the mountain gate.
During the Somló FolkFest, the hosts also provide opportunities for camping.
